My Beautiful Bestie ❤️❤️❤️
One year of Tumblr!!! Congrats Sailor!!!
And one year of friendship between us too!!! I'm so so glad I met you here, you're a wonderful woman, kind, smart, funny, caring & an amazing writer! You know how much I love to read your works but I say it again! I'm a big fan & I'm waiting for new great stories or chapters of North Star (no pressure though, just showing some appreciation!)
For the writers asks, 🎉 💝 💌 please!
Love you so so much ❤️🌹😘
Val, my Bestie! I vividly remember you being one of the first people to reblog The Better Man and me messaging you to thank you. We've been friends ever since, and I'm so thankful for it. Here's to many more years to come!
It's my one-year Tumblr-versary! Send me a writer's ask!
🎉how often do you celebrate completing & posting a work? how often do you give yourself the credit/validation that you seek from others when you post? (if you don't, you should!)
Hmm...I usually celebrate by closing my computer or iPad, stepping away from social media and taking a long walk. I am very (very) hard on myself, and often think I don't deserve any credit or praise, so doing that is a challenge. But I'm trying to be better!
💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
Honestly, I didn't think Make.Believe, would be the hit that it was. (There's that low self esteem talking again.) I had had it in my drafts for months, but decided to publish it on a whim. Part 1 is now at almost 1k notes, which is crazy to me! I am a little sad that Part 2 or 3 didn't do as well, but overall I'm happy with the series.
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
I'm ever so slowly working on Neon Tears, which is another series I've had in my mind for months. I hope that when this semester finishes I'll be able to focus more on writing. Here's a peek of Reader talking to Hange:
“I um..I’m from Earth.” Their eyes go wide. “Earth? That shithole? I didn’t know there were still settlements there. How did you even earn a ticket to get to Mars?” You open your mouth to reply, but they put their hand out. “Don’t answer that - it’s none of my business.” Obviously your planet of birth has made you intriguing; hopefully intriguing enough that they’ll give you a job. They look you up and down like you were a science experiment. “And why would an Earthling such as yourself want to work here, at Club Azure?” “I’m a hard worker and a quick learner. And I need to make money fast.” “Mmmhmmm..and you can definitely do that here, if the guests like you,” they smile, “and you certainly would be a unique curiosity,” their eyes gleam behind their glasses, “but why do you really want to work here?” There’s a silence as you think about what to say, but decide you might as well tell the truth. “This line of work doesn’t require me to have Mars citizenship papers.” “And there it is,” they nod, seeming satisfied with your honesty. “It’s true, we don’t really care about those things here. In return, we expect our employees to be…discreet about our clientele’s information and other business that goes on here.” “I can be discreet.” “I believe it.”

HI I LOVED UR HYPERSEXUAL FEM READER HEADCANONS UR WRITING IS SO GOOD
Soo I'm here to request the vees (mainly vox but idc) x hypersexual Fem reader pleasee 😭🙏
if not that's okay and I hope you have a nice day/night!! feel free to delete this lol
-xoxo, Ari
THANK YOU <3333 i love the vees and ive been looking for an excuse to write them so this is perfect
vees with hypersexul reader
going with the same scenario as last time- you've just finished a round and (char) is spent but you're already ready to go again
《— vox —》
■ he seems like a 2 rounds kinda guy so after that second round and yall are just laying there he is SPENT
■ so when you roll over to lay on his chest like "one more time?" with a little smile on your face, as if yall did not just violently fuck it takes him a moment
■ he's spent, so spent. but he really wants to please you
■ he'd get used to it tbh. like he's mentally prepared everytime now but maybe sometimes he can do a round 3
■ he'd resort to toys i think, only the best for his girl <3
■ there's also something he loves about getting to hold you and watch you writhe in pleasure and he just gets to watch
■ he'd always take your preferences into mind with toys too. like if you want smth specific he's got it for you
■ i feel like he might prefer if yall are spent at the same time so the foreplay goes CRAZY
■ like it's not just foreplay it's actual rounds of getting you to cum before the main event yk
■ or sometimes he'll just ask if it'd be okay to be done for the night when he is
■ he doesn't mind either way but he'd definitely want to communicate about it
■ so yeah it might take him a little bit to adjust bit he'd be just fine!
《— valentino —》
■ okay let's be real this man fucks A LOT so he can probably do like. 3 or 4 lengthy rounds before he's tapped out
■ it's making me giggle about it but like okay val is a kinky guy, and like especially if the first time yall do anything it's a little bit rougher he is SHOCKED when you're down for more
■ he's prly into something like overstim where normally you kinda gotta reel from it after so when he's done and it takes you like. a minute or two to be like "do you wanna do it again?" he judt looks down at you so confused
■ he takes a moment, blinking. he'd definitely ask if you're kidding or smth and then finding out you're not he has to take a moment
■ like, he finds it fucking awesome but jesus christ he's finally met hsi match
■ he might use toys on you or go down on you, depends how he's feeling tbh
■ i think he'd lean towards going down on you, idk he just seems like he'd be a bit of a munch.
■ and if you're okay with it when yall fuck in the future he's constantly just seeing how far you can go before you're spent
■ long story short he's totally chill abt it when he gets used to it and thinks it's fucking great
《— velvette —》
■ okay im literally giggling and kicking my feet while typing this
■ she seems like a 2 or 3 round kind of gal
■ idk femxfem sex doesn't really go in rounds ime but like. yk.
■ so after she's spent, she's like so ready to cuddle up and sleep. but then you're caressing her cheek, nuzzling into her neck. "again?" you murmur and she has to take a moment
■ cause like, she's just super surprised you're still ready for another.
■ she'd ask the most questions abt it. like she'd want to just know more so she can support you better
■ she'd go down on you tho! anytime! she definitely has toys but she seems like the type to be more inclined to eat you out
■ if she gets tired of that she'd use a toy on you. but she stays engaged the whole time, super attentive.
■ she's a service switch so like getting to keep you pleased like this makes her feel good and she doesn't mind at all
■ once again, all of them would embrace it and they do not mind at all!
■ if you guys with the poly hc for the vees i think it just makes it so much better for them to know it's really hard to burn you out
■ i loved this request ty <3

Hey!! hope you’re doing well! anyways, if you could do a val x fem or gn s/o and what their favorite part of or thing about them is? (doesn’t need to be nsfw or anything like that! whatever ur comfortable with!) sry if this doesn’t make any sense🥲
Summary: Their favorite thing about you
Including: Chamber, Yoru, Cypher, Sova, Omen, Phoenix, Gekko, Iso
Notes: I'm doing mostly alr & thanks for requesting<3 Let me know if I understood it correctly!
Chamber loves how accepting you are. You embrace all versions of him, the flirty Chamber, the serious Chamber, even the insecure Chamber he usually doesn't show to anybody. You don't judge him for his past mistakes. This makes him want to show the same amount of support for you.
Yoru's favorite thing about you is your competitiveness. He tried to tone his competitive streak down when you first met, but ever since you told him you didn't mind, you two compete in every. little. thing. The others think it's too much, but you two couldn't care less because it's fun.
Cypher loves your laugh. He's used to everyone being wary of him and his cameras, but then there's you, laughing heartily at his antics and his humor. It easily has become his favorite sound and it's so satisfying to hear.
Sova's favorite thing about you is your honesty. You always let him know your honest thoughts about everything and never hold back, even if the truth could hurt him. Because of that, he's able to trust you with his life.
Omen loves your hands. Whenever he feels cold and empty, which is all the time, your hands that softly caress his cheek and hold his fingers, bring back the warmth he has once felt. It comforts him and temporarily gives him inner peace.
Phoenix's favorite thing about you is your nose. He's a menace, he likes flicking it whenever he passes you and he thinks it's charming how it scrunches up in response every time. He also loves planting kisses on it.
Gekko loves your creativity and helpfulness. That you're offering to brainstorm with him whenever he has new ideas for strategies on how to use his crew in a battle or even for sketches for a new tattoo, means a lot to him.
Iso's favorite part is your eyes. Regardless of your eye color, he likes how bright your irises shine whenever you speak with him. It's a subtle sign of the affection you feel for him, which he also has for you.

Like Beta Fish Do Part 21
wc 3874 Masterpost
“I’ve got nothing else to add,” Jason said as he turned from closing the door behind Danny. He refused to let his boyfriend miss any more classes because of him. He understood yesterday, but he was up and moving now and it wasn’t like Dick was going to leave any time soon.
Dick who obviously still had questions.
Questions Jason didn’t want to answer.
He wasn’t ready to tell his brother he was still dead.
“Jay…,” Dick sighed, setting the plate he’d just finished washing carefully on the towel where the others were drying. It was careful in a way that told Jason Dick had half wanted to throw the plate across the room. “You’ve got to understand… I didn’t look into Danny. No one has looked into Danny. I ignored my instincts and my training and just let you have this because you trusted me. And then I come into that…”
“I do trust you, Dickie,” Jason forced himself to say. It was easier to admit than it used to be. “Don’t you trust me?”
“Jaybird, you know I do,” Dick said as he crossed the room. He rested his hands on Jason’s cheeks, brushing his thumbs under those green tinted eyes. “But you scared me.”
“I get that. I’m not…” Jason huffed out a breath of air and let his head thud back against the door. Why did finding the right words still have to be so hard? “It’s not wrong that you were scared. I’m not trying to… this isn’t me invalidating that. But I’ve… haven’t I been happier, big bird?”
“You have,” Dick whispered his assurance.
“Then trust me,” Jason pleaded. “And trust that I trust Danny. I’m happier because of him. Not just… not just because I care about him. I promise, Dick, this isn’t my heart clouding my head. I was taking the ectoshots before my heart got involved, and they are helping. I feel… it’s so much easier now, Dick, so much easier just to feel.”
Dick slumped forward, his head rested against Jason’s chest. Jason let him, wrapping one heavy arm around Dick’s shoulder’s. He didn’t miss how his brother’s ear was pressed right over his heart.
“Will it go away? The Pit rage?” The question caught in a hitched breath, like Dick was afraid to ask it.
“Completely? I don’t know— we don’t know.” Jason said honestly. He had to swallow his own unsteady breath back. “I don’t think so. I think it’s too far burrowed into my bones to ever go away. I think it’s stained my soul. But I think… I think that a lot of the active parts of it are being washed away. I may always be stained by it, but I don’t have to live by it.”
Dick sighed. His shoulders slumped as he let himself lean almost boneless against Jason. “And he makes you want to live.”
“He does.”
“Alright, Jay, I’ll trust him. Because I want you to keep wanting.”
Jason dropped a kiss to the top of Dick's head, murmuring into his hair, “Thanks, big bird.”

“You’ve been quiet, Danny,” Sam suspiciously pointed out.
It was their monthly ‘is everyone still (mostly) alive’ video chat, as Tucker named it. Which normally Danny enjoyed; it was great to be able to check up with the others. It’s just that right then was really, really bad timing.
Because he did have things to tell and they were going to flip.
“He has been,” Val agreed, leaning forward. “What are you hiding?”
Danny rubbed at the back of his neck. “Well, um, I’m just getting ready to go to the Realms?”
“On ‘is everyone still, mostly, alive’ chat day? Dude!” Tucker said, clutching a dramatic hand to his chest. “How could you?”
“Oh come on— Sam and Val made plans first! We always had a hard cut off,” Danny defended himself.
“Oh excuse us for wanting to support our friends and go see the play they’re in,” Val said.
“I’m not— I’m not the one with the issue!”
“No— don’t let him get off topic,” Sam said, throwing her arm in front of Valerie. “He’s trying to distract us.”
Rude. It was true, but rude.
“Right, so um, Jason?” Danny started. He had gotten permission from Jason to tell them, but it was still a struggle to start.
“Your ‘friend’,” Sam said, with air quotes.
“Who could kill you with his thighs,” Val added.
“And who you won’t let me stalk,” Tucker sulked.
“Yes, him.” Danny rolled his eyes. He tried to not let the nerves get him and continued right into it. “So he’s, well, um, sorta a halfa?”
Danny practically lunged to turn down the volume on the call as everyone shouted at once.
“Everyone shut up!” Sam eventually yelled. “Danny, what the fuck do you mean he’s sorta a halfa?”
“I, um, well, I mean that he died and came back, but his ecto was a little messed up so he didn’t really form fully? Like, he felt like a ghost but he doesn’t— didn’t have a real core. We’re pretty sure it’s forming fully now, which is why we’re going to the Far Frozen to get him checked out.”
“Dude,” Tucker said.
Danny managed a crooked smile. “I know, right?”
“How?” Val stressed.
“I’ve been giving him ectoshots. Sorta like a transfusion? It’s jump starting things,” Danny said. “He had his third one just the other day.”
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell us,” Sam said, crossing her arms. “And he doesn’t want to kill you?”
“Look, it was his secret! I couldn’t just tell people—” Danny cut himself off at a knock on his door.
“Is that him?” Tucker asked, leaning forward. “Dude, bring him in!”
“Well will you look at the time! I guess Sam and Val have to get going!”
Sam scowled. “Danny, don’t you dare—”
“And he’s totally not trying to kill me!” Danny said loudly over her. “Since we’re, you know, dating. Bye guys! Have fun at the play!”
He hung up over their renewed shouting with a grin. That would come back to bite him, but he couldn’t regret it— not when it got him out of that conversation for now.
Danny’s smile fell into something uneasy as he opened the door. “Hey, come in.”
They had talked since that night, of course, but they hadn’t seen each other. Danny raked his eyes over Jason, as if just by looking he could tell how the other was doing.
“Hey fish, I’m alright. I’m healing well thanks to you,” Jason assured him.
Danny almost bristled. It was what he wanted to know, of course, but he didn’t want to be coddled. “Good, because we’re going into the Infinite Realms and they can be dangerous. So you’re going to stay close to my side and you’re going to listen to everything I say and we are going to see Frostbite to make sure you didn’t permanently injure your core getting stabbed as it was coming in! Because you were a reckless idiot and were out fighting crime while going through a transformation of your very being!”
“Are we talking about this now?”
“Don’t get cheeky—”
“I’m not,” Jason insisted. When Danny just scowled, Jason stepped forward. He cradled Danny’s face gently. “I’m not. I just want to make sure now is when you want to talk about this. I don’t want to push you.”
Danny swallowed around the lump of tension in his throat and gave a nod.
Jason let out a little breath. “I’m sorry.”
“What?”
“I’m sorry. You’re right, and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been out like that while this was going on. I was just— you know the first time I got sick from the ectoshot? The family was bugging me for weeks about it. They were…” Jason paused as if turning the words around in his head. “They were worried, I guess— no, I get now, because I had missed a few patrols, because I never miss patrols. I’m used to going out there and doing what I need to do no matter what’s going on or what state I’m in. I’m used to not having anyone… no, I’m used to not relying on anyone because I feel like I can’t. Because the Pit lies. It makes it feel like… I’m used to feeling like I don’t have anyone. Even though I have my family and you… I’m still trying to get used to that idea without the Pit in the way. So you’re right, and I’m sorry.”
“You could have died,” Danny choked out.
“I know.”
Danny shook his head. “You could have died and would I have even known? Would Dick have thought to tell me? And even if he did what lie would he have given? I would have just felt you… you would have just been gone, Jason! You would have died and shattered apart and you would have been gone! And I never would have known how—”
Jason yanked Danny against him, holding him so tightly that it was almost hard for Danny to breathe.
He pressed in closer.
“I know, and I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
They stood there, clinging to each other, and Danny let himself fall apart a little— like he had been putting off since that night. Jason carded gentle fingers through Danny’s hair as Danny shook in his arms.
“Great. Now I’m crying,” Danny said with a pathetic sniffle when he felt worn out by his emotions.
“That’s okay,” Jason murmured.
“I didn’t mean to make this about me.”
“That’s okay too. You’re allowed to be upset, fish.”
“I’ll feel better once we get your core checked out,” Danny admitted, finally pulling back, wiping at his face.
“I’ll listen to everything you say,” Jason promised.
“You better,” Danny said, trying to sound firm. “First off, wear this.”
Danny shoved an absurdly thick coat at Jason, but he took it and put it on without comment. He really did seem like he was going to listen to Danny. Danny just tossed his own ectocase around his shoulders and let the white rings wash over him, transforming into Phantom.
He turned away from Jason, taking a moment to gather himself, before he ripped open a portal to the Realms.
-
“I know you told me yetis, but still,” Jason said with a motion at the village around him.
“Something to see, isn’t it?” Danny asked with a little grin. The smile was still a little shaky looking, but it was far better than how Danny had looked in his apartment.
Jason felt horrible for how he had worried Danny and Dick. He had been stupid, and it had been people he cared about that had paid for it. He would take any smiles that Danny could muster right then, even shaky ones.
“So how does it work, having a yeti as a doctor when you’re human?”
“I mean, I’m not right now, am I?” Danny said, motioning to his stark white hair. “I’m a ghost and all ghosts are just a core surrounded by an ectoplasmic form. That form can look like a human or a yeti or an evil plant with a chip on its shoulder—”
A what?
“—but, like, that’s just the appearance of the ectoplasm. With enough effort and will we can completely change that appearance, but most beings stick with something close to their living form, at least for those of us that were alive. Frostbite has explained that because the form we had as the living is basically imprinted on our core, so it’s the easiest and the most natural form for our ectoplasm to take. Minor changes like hair and clothing are easy, because we changed those all the time when alive, but bigger changes take more effort and a level of upkeep.
“You and I are a little unique as halfas. We’re in flux in a way that other ghosts aren’t. My from has pretty naturally aged up as my human half has, for example, though Frostbite thinks that I could still very easily revert back to the age I was when I died if I wanted too, since that’s part of the original imprint.”
Not for the first time, Jason couldn’t help but dread what his ghost form might be. If he was lucky, he’d simply change into an inverted Red Hood. But when has he been lucky like that? There was a far too certain part of Jason that knew he’d come back as he had been in the warehouse: a scared kid who had been murdered.
A Robin.
He didn’t know if he could stand to be back in that uniform.
Jason did his best to push the thought aside. If he worried about it, he’d just let it consume him. He didn’t want to be in that mindset— especially not when he was in an unknown place; not that Danny would let anything happen to him.
Besides, there was too much to look at to be lost in his own head.
“Frostbite!” Danny called out suddenly, rushing forward towards a large yeti with a crystal arm.
The yeti smiled. That was… a lot of teeth. “Great One!”
Great one?
“Are you unwell or simply here for a visit? How are you handling the lack of haunt? Come, we should look you over anyways.”
“Frostbite, I’m fine, really, but I want you to check over Jason. There was a little… incident,” Danny said. He turned to motion to Jason and waved him over. “Frostbite, this is Jason, the other halfa I’ve told you about. Jason, this is Frostbite, chief of this village and my physician.”
“It is an honor to meet another friend of the Great One,” the Chief said with a pleasant smile.
“Thanks,” Jason said, shooting Danny a look at the ‘great one’ title. Danny just rubbed at the back of his neck bashfully. “Danny’s told me how you both worked out the idea for the ecotshots for me. I appreciate the help.”
“Of course! I am always here to help a halfa with their health. There are so few of you, it is the least that I can do to offer my aid,” Frostbite said with a little half bow. “Come, we should head inside where we will have some privacy.”
“Thank you,” Jason said, aware that he was getting more than a few looks from the residents. He bundled a little deeper into his coat as they made their way inside to what was clearly a medical room, despite the wholly unusual architecture.
Frostbite motioned for Jason to take a seat on the medical bed. “Now, are you alright with King Phantom being in the room for your examination?”
“Yes,” Jason answered quickly, swallowing back the words that he’d much rather Danny be there than not. “He’s been involved so far anyways.”
“Very well,” Frostbite said and shut the door behind Danny. “There was an incident I am told?”
Jason gave a little nod. “Danny thinks it was my core coming in finally. But I was in the middle of a fight. I, ah… help protect my city. It threw me off and I got stabbed. It was a pretty bad wound.”
Danny scoffed. When Frostbite looked his way he crossed his arms with a scowl. “He could have died. I gave him an ectoshot, third one, but I’m still worried that getting hurt that badly when his core was properly forming hurt something.”
“Ah, well, we can certainly look into that, hum?” Frostbite pulled on something that seemed to be a stethoscope of some sort connected to a pitch tuner. He gestured with it for permission and Jason nodded. “What did your core feel like?”
“Burning,” Jason answered. “Is… that a bad thing?”
“Not if it is a core that is meant to burn,” the yeti said with a rumbling chuckle as he pressed the stethoscope to Jason’s chest. “Now, think a happy thought.”
“Really? What is this, Peter Pan?”
Danny covered a snort of laughter.
“Not a reference I know,” Frostbite admitted.
“They, ah, think happy thoughts to fly in the story,” Jason explained awkwardly.
“Well, as ghosts can fly and our cores are heavily responsive to our emotions, perhaps not a bad analogy,” Frostbite said. “Now, happy thoughts, please.”
Closing his eyes, Jason took a breath and let it out slowly as he grasped for something happy to think of. It was… easier than it used to be. Meals with the family, tea with Alfred, and Danny. Danny smiling in wonder in the planetarium. Danny whooping as he dashed through the waves. Dancing with Danny in the town square.
Kissing Danny.
“And there we are,” Frostbite murmured.
“How is it?” Danny asked anxiously.
“Shush.”
Now Jason felt anxious.
“Such worry,” Frostbite said as he pulled away with a chuckle. “The core is a bit quiet, perhaps, but it is still young. I do not hear any cracking or strange reverberations. The humming was strong for the age of the core. You have not transformed yet?”
“No,” Jason said, trying not to let that fear grip him about that.
Frostbit nodded. “It would be best to not yet do so. One more ectoshot at least before you try, perhaps two. There would be no harm in having another one soon to help with the growth.”
“Can you top us off?” Danny asked as he wiggled the case he’d brought at Frostbite.
“Of course, we will see to that before you leave. While you are here, Jason, would you wish to find out what type of core you have?”
“Yes, of course,” Jason said, both curious and wanting to make sure the burning was something he was supposed to feel.
“I will be right back then,” Frostbite said.
Once the yeti had left, Jason glanced over at Danny. “Feeling better?”
“Yeah. I’m glad it’s nothing, but I needed us to check, you know?”
“Hey, fish, I get it. I don’t mind having come. Who gets to say they’ve met yetis?”
“You will plenty, he’s your doctor now too,” Danny pointed out. “Oh, and I want you to take this ectocase and store it somewhere Dick can get to it if you’re hurt again, alright?”
“Sure, fish,” Jason said. He’d give Danny that little bit of security. “I’ll have it stored in the Cave and tell Dick about it.”
“Okay, good,” Danny said, letting out a tense breath.
“Hey, come here.”
When Danny stepped close, Jason tucked Danny to stand in between his lefts and gently cupped his face. “I’m going to do everything I can to be safe. I’m not going to go out on patrol right now. I’ll work with Dick to find an excuse until my core is solid. I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t think about how this would affect everything else. But I promise you, I’m going to do everything I can to be safe now that I get it.”
“Sorry I’m worrying.”
“None of that, you’re allowed to worry,” Jason said, brushing his lips against Danny’s forehead. “Just also trust me to do my best. I just got you, I’m not going to leave you.”
“Okay,” Danny said with another measured breath. “I trust you, I do.”
“Ah, should I return in a moment?” Frostbite asked softly from the doorway.
“No, it’s fine,” Danny said, pulling back from Jason. “Really. I want to know what Jason’s core is also.”
Frostbite gave a little nod and opened the case he was carrying. In it, cradled in soft velvet, was a glass ball. Or, at least, what looked like a glass ball to Jason. It was slightly cool when Frostbite set it in Jason’s cupped hands.
“Now Jason, this will show us what your core is by projecting the appropriate imagery into the sphere. You must close your eyes and focus inside yourself. It may be harder for you in this form, but attempt to feel that burning again.”
Jason did as he was told, thinking back to the feeling on the night he was stabbed and the little flares of heat he had sensed since. He could feel it, just barely, as this heat inside his chest. It was this faint, churning ball of warmth sitting under his sternum.
“Oh,” Danny breathed. “That’s beautiful.”
“Yes,” Frostbite rumbled. “Stay focused, but you may open your eyes.”
Jason paused. He was almost afraid to know. This was the first real thing— the first proof that he was still half dead. But he had to face it.
He opened his eyes.
The sphere was glowing so brightly orange it was almost hard to look at. The light spilled through cracks and fissures of an ashen black surface that split and shifted and formed.
“…lava?”
“Lava,” Frostbite confirmed. “A powerful force. It can be destructive. It can spread across the land, decimating everything in front of it.”
Jason’s breath hitched. Of course he was a force of destruction and death. Of course he—
Frostbit’s large hands gently surrounded his, partially shielding the light from the sphere. “But it can also be creation. It can make whole new islands. And the earth left behind by a lava flow is incredibly rich— life blooms from it. It is a duality. Very fitting, I would think, for a halfa.”
The next breath shuddered through Jason, right to his center where that warmth sat. He swallowed heavily against the lump in his throat. “I… yeah.”
Frostbite carefully took the sphere from Jason’s hand, the lava flared once before it the sphere was clear again. Frostbite turned around to put it away, and Jason was pretty certain it was all so that he could have a moment to compose himself.
He didn’t even realize he was crying until Danny stepped close to wipe the tears away. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, sorry. I just…” Jason cleared his throat. “I guess it was just a lot suddenly, seeing that.”
“I meant what I said, it was beautiful,” Danny said.
Jason smiled. He was sure it was more than a little watery, but it was an honest smile. “Thank you.”
“Now, do you have any questions about your core?” Frostbite asked.
Jason took a moment to think about that. “I won’t… there’s no way for me to hurt Danny, is there? With him having an ice core.”
“No,” Frostbite said with another one of his chuckles. “In a normal situation, you would have an advantage in a fight, should you use your elemental powers, but King Phantom has a way of assuming the powers that he battles against. He has very few weaknesses in that manner. And you will be of no harm being simply near him. In fact, it may be a nice balance— he runs cold and you warm. If one was being poetic, one could say you are made for each other.”
“You’re talking like it’s fate.”
“With the Great One, it’s never wise to rule anything out,” Frostbite said with a chuckle. “Come now, let us see to getting you ecto and let you go on your way. I am sure it has been a long day.”
It really had; long, but not bad.
Not bad at all.
-----
AN: This chapter fought me with my poor health, but here we are! And we finally figure out what Jason's core is! I hope everyone likes the choice~
And things also continue to settle down a little. Though Danny is going to be hounded by his friends for sure!
Stay delightful, darlings!

I need more platonic headcannons in my life; can you do some general headcannons for being friends with Charlie, Angel Dust, Alastor, and Rosie? (Separately BTW)
Charlie
Being friends with Charlie includes being down for her crazy ideas and schemes.
You are her third in command, the second being Vaggie, with whom you need to be friends.
You get to know all the details about all the hotel inhabitants. Charlie needs someone to spill the tea with who isn't her level-headed partner.
If you are single, she constantly sets you up on dates; she just wants you to have what she has.
However, if you are Aro or Ace, she stops and just finds more people for you to be friends with.
If you are super artistic, be prepared for her to ask for your help with a million things around the hotel.
If you are more left-brain and planning-oriented, she will definitely need your help making sure she shows up to her meetings on time.
She has a high standard of care for you. She is definitely texting three times a day to make sure you ate and are drinking water, friend.
She is a princess with a million and one things, thanks to her dad, so she loves spoiling you and Vaggie.
Friend dates are a must, whether at the hotel or not. She needs to decompress from her relationship, too.
Angel Dust
Clubbing every weekend and some weeknights. However, he will settle on sleepovers if clubbing isn't your style.
He only trusts you to help him when he is having a hard time with Val, so you two go on a lot of self-care dates.
When he can convince you to go to a club he is the ultimate let me hold your drink I trust no one else here.
You and he sit at the bar a lot and bother Husk. Between him flirting and you asking deranged questions, it is always a fun time.
Gives you the best flirting and dating tips, he may be a horn dog and porn star, but he is still a romantic at heart.
You two will 100% play dress up, it is one of his favorite pass times with you especially since a lot of Vel's clothes are meant for people with two arms.
He will not let you visit him at work, though he always comes and visits you. He is afraid that if Val saw you, he would try to trick you into working for him, too.
Teaches you how to pole dance if you are really curious; he thinks it's an excellent skill to have even if you aren't in the sex work industry.
If you choose to follow his lifestyle, he supports you wholeheartedly and even goes out of his way to help you find an ethical club or producer to work for so Val can't get his hands on you.
Alastor
He is a gentleman if you pass his vibe check and are allowed into his inner circle.
You two will go on hunts together if you like; if not, you are the first person he offers the cooked kill to.
Will try to convert you to cannibalism only a handful of times, if you like it you like it if not well damn.
He lets you help him script his broadcasts; however, he doesn't let you speak on them, so people won't come and target you.
Loves to help you ruffle Vaggie or Husk's feathers. Literally, his biggest enjoyment is making either one upset at whatever you two concocted.
Please help him annoy Lucifer; he will be your best friend for life.
You and he visit Rosie regularly to have tea dates and gossip about what is happening with all the other overlords.
He lets you help him clean up his murder weapons, sometimes its more fun to get your hands dirty than using the shadows all the time.
You and his central shadow talk constantly; this annoys him because you two goof off when he's trying to work.
You are the only person who he told about his wounds from Adam, and you help him clean up, best friend pact for life. You won't tell anyone how weak he was.
Rosie
She lets you help at the shop a lot, giving her more freedom and you more street credit.
She will stick up for you against Susan, even if you can handle yourself.
She shows you off to the other cannibals about how close of friends you two are.
She invites you to all her and Alastor's tea dates, enjoying the company of her best friends.
Like Charlie, she will try to find you a date, but only so she can kill them and eat them after they upset you.
Will also try to convert you to cannibalism; however, if you aren't in that crowd, she will happily take up cooking lessons with you.
Honestly, you two have a lot of cooking dates. I'm not gonna lie; you're teaching her how to cook regular food, and she teaches you how to cook other sinners.
She tells you all about her four dead husbands. She ensures you know all the juicy bits so you can hate on them together.
If she gets another husband, you will be the one to decide his fate 9/10. Rosie will come up to you and ask yes or no.
She teaches you all the weaknesses of a human so you can fare better in hell without her.

The Nightmare Come True - Part 5 and The End
Thanks @loopstagirl for the original idea of this whole fic that spiralled far further than I think either of us expected. Scott's POV 1 | Part 1 | Scott's POV 2 | Part 2 | Scott's POV 3 | Part 3 | Scott's POV 4 | Part 4
Christmas had come and gone as loudly as it always did in their house.
The best gift for Gordon was the day his oldest brother had turned up at a training session alongside Jeff, the kid hadn’t stopped talking about it for a week. Jeff had been confident Scott would soon be making his way into the pool himself, especially if his request for an olympic sized pool on their newly purchased island was anything to go by.
John and Virgil had both returned home for the holidays full of stories and with open invites for their big brother to visit them at their respective colleges come the following semester. Scott had been keen, immediately opening his calendar and circling dates between appointments and other plans.
Even Jen had paid a brief visit, greeting the younger brothers as old friends proving just how much Scott had spoken of them all to his squad at one point or another.
By spring Jeff had noticed just how Scott had begun to fill out again, his time in the gym paying off and rebuilding the muscle that had been lost. He was starting to relax, to enjoy life as he once had and found the confidence he had always worn like a comfortable jacket. Gradually, he was becoming a version of the son Jeff recognised.
March was spent in the air, racking up supervised flight hours after passing the required psych exams. It had taken time for him to be comfortable in the pilot's seat again, but Scott had said himself that being in the air was as natural to him as being in the water was for Gordon. All he had needed was a supportive shoulder, one that Jeff was willing to offer.
By his birthday, Scott’s full pilot’s license had been reinstated, giving cause for a celebration alone without the news of John’s new Space Rated status. They had called Virgil on hologram, celebrating from their separate corners of the country louder than they had done over the festive period.
It had been late in the night when Jeff had found Scott out on the porch, a letter discarded but evidently not forgotten in his lap.
“I was going to tell you earlier, but the surprise party kind of distracted me.” Scott had smiled as Jeff had joined him on the step and poured them each a measure of whiskey.
“Cambridge offered me a spot to study English Lit, it’s all online so I’d only need to go over twice a semester so I’d still be able to--” He paused to glance over his shoulder, making sure no younger brothers were lingering in the kitchen.
Jeff had chuckled, glad that Scott was doing something for himself, something that didn’t immediately lead to any plans that had seemingly always been in place.
“You don’t have to, you know?” He had pointed out, “If you want to take some time for yourself before joining the Project…”
Scott had shook his head, grinning as he sipped his drink, “I want to get in the air again, Dad, and that rocket? I’m not letting you have all the fun.”
Both had laughed at the implication, wordlessly reaching their glasses towards one another in a silent salute to everything they had overcome in that year alone.
Things still weren’t perfect, Alan and Gordon were far from happy about moving to a boarding school away from their family. Scott still had a way to go before he was back at his full strength and fitness, but with the encouragement from Val and Lee, he was well on his way to outperforming them all.
“This is what I need.” Scott had nodded, “Despite everything, I’m glad we’ve ended up here Dad.”
Jeff had slung an arm over his shoulders and pulled him close, “Me too kid, me too.”
Of course, it hadn’t lasted.
A short eighteen months later, Jeff had been shot into the farthest reaches of their solar system. He had been sure that he would never see his family, his boys, again. It hadn’t mattered what he had tried with the engines, there had been no way for him to get home. He had tried, time and again to find a way to get through to them but it had eventually become apparent that all he could do was try to stay alive.
He had taken to sketching and writing when he wasn’t trying to keep himself alive, focussing on thoughts of each of his boys. How Scott was at least back doing something he loved, that John had made it to space as he had always wanted to, that Virgil was close to graduating with Honors on his engineering degree, that Gordon would have made it to the Olympics, and Alan at least had four older brothers to look out for him. It had been the thought and memory of them that had kept him going, the irony not lost on him that it had been the same things that had kept Scott going through his imprisonment.
There had been little else to occupy him over those long years.
He had never given up hope, not even as the planetoid had begun to separate beneath his feet, he had known they would come.
Right at the last possible second, he had spotted Scott.
Just like that, their roles were reversed.
Scott had stepped up in the time Jeff had been gone, and the more he had seen of the man his eldest had become, the more his heart had hurt.
He had dropped out of his Literature degree almost immediately after Jeff had gone, had taken up the role of commander in International rescue, and the role of Father to younger brothers that weren’t ready to be orphans. Once again, thanks to Jeff, Scott had lost sight of the man he wanted to be for himself.
Once again, Jeff had vowed to set that right.
There had been months of recovery, hospital appointments and physiotherapy, most of it familiar from the year before he had taken the unexpected trip. Scott had resolutely been at his side through all of it.
“Alan asked how you did it…” Scott had started one night, sat out by the pool waiting for Virgil and Gordon to return home from a rescue.
Jeff hadn’t needed further clarification as he had trailed off. He’d had therapy that morning, had spent the day pulling his boys closer after talking about what the isolation had done to him. Of course, they had all picked up on it.
“I imagine much the same way as you did during the war,” Jeff admitted softly, “Thinking of your family, remembering all the good times.”
Before he had left, talking about the war had been coming easier for Scott. It hadn’t taken long for Jeff to realize that Scott had clammed up once he had no longer had his father to talk to about such times.
Scott snorted, looking out to the horizon, “Admittedly, it’s a good method.”
Jeff smiled sadly across to him, “It got us both a long way.”
It had gotten them both back home, back to their family, to somewhere where they could find their feet again and work towards the version of themselves they wanted to be.
The man sat next to him was physically recovered from his time as a prisoner, but had never found a solid enough footing to find himself amongst all the chaos life had thrown at them.
“You didn’t end up where you were aiming, I’m sorry for that.” Jeff sighed after a moment, reaching out to Scott’s shoulder, “Because of all of this, I think you lost yourself again Scott.”
“I--” For a moment it seemed like he was ready to argue, before his shoulders had fallen and he had nodded in admission, “I became who I needed to be.”
They had shared a look, one that spoke of burdens that had fallen back on tired shoulders that had barely gotten free before being weighed back down again.
“You deserved to live life for yourself Scott.”
Scott ran a hand through his hair, “I know that now.”
“I know it wasn’t my fault,” Jeff continued, “but I’m sorry I wasn’t here to help you see that, Son, I’m sorry that life has been so cruel and unfair.”
Scott’s arm wrapped around his shoulders, “I’m glad you don’t blame yourself.”
Jeff would never admit to him that it was a concept he still sometimes struggled with, but something he was working on regardless. His son didn’t need any more burdens.
“So,” He started, looking across with raised eyebrows, “Alan’s headed to college in the Fall, how about you take another look at that Literature degree?”
Scott’s laugh was full bodied against Jeff, “Yeah, I suppose that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.”
Laughing with his son, Jeff nodded to himself.
They were going to be just fine.

trust he sweats in each game too.
he'd be caught dead before he's ever bad at a game ..
he literally spends most of all his days gaming, it's a lil insane how much he just lets it rot his brain
he never rage quits but he screams so much & it's hilarious
eventually he realizes that he hasn't given you any attention & tells his friends that he has to get off for a couple hours, just for you
ken decides to start streaming one day & that day marked your fucken demise
he sets up a hand & face cam.. when you're against it, he's so confused.
you're sat there for at least ten minutes explaining to him how girls will go feral for this
one day you tune into his stream & you see multiple comments like "for free??" "wish he'd play with me" "why's he kinda.." "the veins.."
on one hand you're jealous, but on the other- you're happy knowing that he's your boyfriend
"baby can you bring me some water please" ken says in the softest voice ever, it damn near has you topple over nd roll around
you bring it to him nd he thanks you with a couple pecks
the chat is going absolutely wild?? both over his voice & him actually not being single
but what could they expect?
ken was a good looking, handsome, pretty, charming boy.. & literally every other word you could think of
he always had that sleepy look & he usually paired it with blue light glasses that made him look all the more nerdy
sometimes he'd even be shirtless & his collarbone would have you gasping for air
on some days ken didn't care about streaming
he'd sit you next to him or even on him & just have you watch him play
he'd look towards you after hitting the nastiest shots/clips on kids to make sure you saw it
some days you ask him if he wants to play minecraft with you & he never objects.. he will always make time for you when you ask for it
he introduces you to the game "it takes two" and streams when the two of you play
everyone ends up loving the dynamic you have & the way you treat each other
eventually chat starts suggesting that ken teaches you how to play the other try hard games.. so he starts with the easier one: fortnite
you think to yourself why any of them thought this would be easy for you bc it has you screaming for kaneki's help half the time you get into a close combat gunfight
he tries teaching you how to build & you end up putting random walls & stairs everywhere
he just laughs at you bc he genuinely finds it easy & can't seem to understand why it's difficult for you ??
"no sweetheart, you actually have to have structure behind your building" "i'm fucken trying ken??" "not hard enough??" "ok then you do it???"
bro builds an 8 story mansion in 20 seconds and it has you gagged
whole chat is like "were you silent or were you silenced..??"
when you start wanting to take gaming a lil more seriously, he teaches you how to play on mouse nd keyboard just like him
he even buys you a cute lil setup, & ofc its right next to his
when he introduces you to val, all the pick me's are targeting ken & it's funny asfk when they find out his gf is in the game too
they're all like "you're shit at the game anyway stfu" like HUHH?? mad bc he ain't yours lmao
also can i mention that ken is a proud "shit on" SCREAAAAMER
he has your initials in different colored keys than the rest of his keyboard
holds one of your stuffed animals on his lap when you're away from home
jokingly asks you for support under the desk (its not a joke..)

Day 10 Look everyone! 10 days of Junkan! What could mark this epic milestone?
Junko holding Mikan.
So in the future I end up using every 10th entry in this project as an excuse to do something with a bit more effort cause why not be extra for the occasion. But it wasn’t until No.20 that I decided that would be a thing.
Since I don’t have anything interesting to say for this pic, time to divulge more lore! For Day 8 I made note of how fast I was working on these Junkan pics during the early parts of it, even while I slowed down I still had a really good pace up till No.60, but how was I able to pull that off?
Simple, I accidentally created a feedback loop of Dopamine and Serotonin.
You see, when it comes to art a big thing that keeps me going is validation for my efforts, I like to see the reaction my art gets from people. One of my main goals in life is to create a webcomic with the goal to have it hopefully influence people's lives positively, even if it’s just cheering them up on a bad day. But because I need that validation, it’s a bit of a hard sell for my brain to draw art of something where I’m too scared to show anyone (more on this later). I had a total of 3 people that I would show this art to at first.
Two of them were supportive and thought the art was good, but weren’t really invested in the ship like me, and the other was invested but still wasn’t as deep into it as me.
Even for the small amount of effort the lack of positive feedback would have probably killed the project early on. However again thanks to one of those people pushing me forward, I messaged VanadisValentine! Remember her? Good.
She was someone like me starved for art of these two, so I nervously showed her the art, and she liked it! Keep in mind, I’m on good terms with Val now and can comfortably say we’re friends. But when I first talked to her she was still “The Author of Fanfics that rewired my fucking brain” and my self worth was a lot lower at that point in the year. So here’s where the feedback loop comes in. I draw Junkan > I show it to Val, who I really respect and admire > She likes it and says nice things about it > I am overjoyed from the feedback > I experience a rush of adrenaline from the euphoria > Loop repeats
Even now the loop still works. It's just significantly slower now both because after a certain point in the project I’m putting way more time and effort into each piece, AND I have other responsibilities other than drawing gay people. Like Webcomic, or commission work, or OTHER gay people. I also have other people now who I show this art to that like it who I’ve even heavily sold on it, so it’s not like I’m just relying on the opinion of a single person to keep me going. All that said Val’s really been a big help and influence on this project, which I’ll likely go more into later down the line :)
Reblogs, comments, and little notes in the tags are always appreciated!~

ACOSM | The Night they joined the Bloodrite
azriel x rhysand's sister (oc)
warnings: angst, mentions of abuse and violence
summary: Valeria bids farewell to Rhys, Cass and Az as they are to particpate in the bloodrite, hoping they all return to her.
A/N: this is an imagine among my collection of imagines that follow Rhysand's sister, Valeria. while I'm still working on them, you can find the masterlist for it here. I couldn't help myself and post this imagine today. As promised, things are about to get angsty and sad. There will also be more explanations to what unfolds here in the upcoming imagines.
**
The day had arrived when the men in her life, her closest and dearest, prepared for their participation in the upcoming Bloodrite. A formidable Illyrian tradition that tested their strength and valor. It was such a pivotal time for Illyrian males of age, so much that the High Lord of the Night Court graced Windhaven with his regal presence to bid his son and heir luck and farewell.
However, for Valeria, the sight struck a chord of envy. Her father made sure to show up and extend his support to Rhysand but he had failed to do the same for her birthday dinner just last week.
Lady Yvaine, standing by Valeria’s side, sensed her daughter’s emotions and offered a comforting squeeze before letting it go. The three of them had stopped by Windhaven’s tents in the training grounds of the camp, where all Illyrian males participating in the bloodrite would spend the night before being winnowed to the guarded Ramiel, Illyria's sacred mountain.
The morning sun cast a golden hue over the training grounds as Valeria stood among her brother and his closest friends—Rhysand, Cassian, and Azriel. The air was tense with a mix of excitement, anticipation, and underlying worry. She stared at all three of them. Sensing her distress, Noctis, perched on her shoulder as always, tenderly nuzzled his small head against her neck in a sweet caress.
“Please come back to me.” Valeria said, her voice carrying an almost desperate plea. “All three of you.”
Cassian grinned, his usual bravado shining through. "You know us, Val. We'll make sure to come back in one piece and be victorious."
Cassian had come prepared to say his farewells to Valeria. Since he knew his charming grin and words would not be enough to ease her anxiety, he pulled something out of his small satchel. Valeria’s eyes landed on the book...a gift for her.
“I meant to give this to you for your birthday but knowing you, you would’ve finished it by now.”
Valeria stared down at the book in her hands. The title hinted at a romance novel but a subtle gesture from him hinted that there was more beneath the cover. She discreetly peeled the cover off to reveal a book on Illyrian training and fighting. Her heart swelled at his gesture. Cassian had always been encouraging to her interest for training and fighting.
A note on the first page bore a handwritten message: For my little warrior, may the wind always guide your wings.
Valeria chuckled as her gaze fell to the bottom of the page where another message was written: P.S. please don’t cause any chaos while we’re gone. You know I have a great fear of missing out on the fun.
“Think of this as your homework while I’m gone. I want you to read it”--Sensing the determination in Valeria, he decided to add–”at a steady pace and when I return, I want you to show me what you have learned.”
Valeria nodded appreciatively. “I’ll do just that. Thank you, Cas.”
She proceeded to envelop Cassian in a warm, tight hug. He chuckled lightly as Noctis emitted a small squawk, momentarily caught off guard by the strong embrace, before adjusting himself.
“I didn’t know you enjoyed romance novels so much.” Rhysand quipped, noticing the faint smile on Valeria’s face.
“Only the ones Tanwyn recommends.” Valeria quickly hid the truth of the book's content from her brother, who wouldn't have approved of such reading material, especially not when their father was around.
Valeria tried her best to hide her worry as she looked at her brother. She knew he was capable–they all were. Yet she was unable to shake off the fear that gnawed at her heart. So many what ifs plagued her thoughts. Sensing her worry and anxiety, Rhysand stepped forward as Cassian excused himself to say his farewells with their mother, who was currently hugging Azriel.
Rhysand, though masked with confidence, showed a flicker of vulnerability in his eyes. "We'll be back before you know it." He assured her.
He pulled her into a tight hug, being careful as to not hurt the bird that was perched on top of her shoulders as Cassian did moments ago. That damn bird, he couldn’t help but think, a mix of annoyance and strange fondness swirling within him.
“I love you, Val.”
“I love you too, Rhys.” Valeria replied, squeezing her brother’s hands. Her gaze lingered on him for a moment, as if engraving the image of her older brother into her mind. Stop, she told herself. Your brother will come back. They all will.
I promise, Rhysand whispered into her mind.
She had been so consumed in her thoughts that her mental shields wavered, allowing him to enter with ease. He then projected an image of his arm, that was currently concealed by his leathers. Intricate black swirls etched themselves into the form of a mountain with three stars above its peak.
Valeria felt a tingling sensation on her own arm, mirroring the pattern of black ink Rhysand showed her. A bargain tattoo. A mountain with three stars–Ramiel–a promise of his definite return, bringing a small sense of ease to her.
Rhysand gently withdrew, shifting his attention to Noctis. “Keep her safe for me, Noctis.”
Noctis responded with a strong chirp, bowing his head and extending his wings in promise. Rhysand felt a sense of gratitude toward the bird. Something he'd never thought he'd feel toward the small creature whose chirping often got on his nerves. Pressing a brief kiss to his sister’s forehead and a pet to Noctis’s head, Rhysand went to join Cassian and say his farewells to their parents.
Azriel seized the moment to bid his farewell to Valeria. Noctis let out a chirp as he spread his wings and flew to Azriel, finding temporary shelter on the Shadowsinger’s shoulders. Azriel’s shadows greeted the bird as a dear friend, embracing Noctis with their gentle tendrils of darkness.
“I don’t know who will miss you more. Me or Noctis.” Valeria mused with a soft smile on her lips.
Azriel chuckled as he stepped forward, bridging the space between them. There was so much he wanted to say to Valeria, but he knew he had to be careful with his words.
His shadows, now displaying a playful dance of joy over his shoulders, redirected their attention from Noctis to Valeria. They caressed her cheek tenderly and then her neck. Azriel’s eyes followed their every movement, pausing at the necklace she wore. It was the necklace Azriel gifted her on her birthday. An elegant silver piece that beheld a mesmerizing moonstone, which was delicately cradled within a silver frame shaped like a crescent moon.
Valeria’s heart quickened its pace as Azriel, with a tenderness that spoke volumes, brushed against the moonstone wrapped around her neck.
A faint smile graced his lips, a rush of warmth filling him, at the sight of her wearing his gift. The moonstone with its ethereal, milky hue, captured and reflected the light in a way that reminded him of her own unique powers.
For a fleeting moment, he thought he saw a delicate coil–a fine thread of gold and silver–radiate from the necklace. It vanished as swiftly as it had appeared, disappearing within the blink of an eye.
"I'll wear it every day, waiting for your return," Valeria assured him.
"Only until I return?" Azriel teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
"You know what I mean," Valeria replied, her cheeks flushing with warmth.
"Hmm," Azriel hummed, his touch lingering as he softly grazed from her neck to her cheek, mirroring the caress of his shadows. His breath caught as her free hand sought his free hand, her thumb gently tracing soothing circles on the back of his scarred hand.
“I’ll be waiting for you, Az.” Valeria said softly, her violet eyes looking up at him with a depth he had never seen before. He had never been this close to her. He could appreciate the details in her violet irises he hadn’t noticed before. They were a delicate kaleidoscope of purple and blue hues, swirling like a myriad of galaxies within a vast universe.
A universe he desperately yearned to explore and unravel.
A surge of emotion washed over Azriel, a longing to express what had been growing inside him for so long. He wanted to kiss her, to show how much she meant to him. Despite his confidence in his abilities as an Illyrian warrior, a small fear lingered…that this could be his one and only chance to kiss her, to taste her.
He leaned in, his breath fanning her face.
But he hesitated at the very last moment and pulled away, his fingers brushing over her lips instead. An unspoken promise. An assurance that he would kiss her. But at a different time.
Perhaps, upon his triumphant return from the bloodrite.
“And I'll be sure to return to you, Val.” He finally managed to say, gently removing his hand from her face.
The weight of the unspoken hung in the air and all of his shadows returned to him, displaying disappointment and seeming to chastise him for his shyness. Even Noctis seemed to shoot him a look as he returned to Valeria’s shoulder.
Valeria, too, felt a flicker of disappointment as she reluctantly increased the distance between them, her grip loosening on his hand.
She turned her gaze with worry and anxiety, wondering if anyone had seen them. However, a sense of relief washed over her as she realized Cassian and Rhysand were still engrossed in conversation with her parents, oblivious to what had just happened between Azriel and herself.
She didn’t even know what to call it herself, but surely, he was about to kiss her right? She quickly strengthened her mental shields at the thought.
The two walked over to the group to say their final goodbyes. Lady Yvaine pulled Valeria into her side, wrapping an arm around her daughter’s shoulder. Unknowing to Valeria or Azriel, her mother had noticed their close embrace and provided a distraction for them to have their moment.
With a heavy heart, Valeria watched as the three men she treasured the most departed. She stood there, the weight of their absence already felt in her heart and the unknown outcomes weighing heavily on her mind...
**
The crisp air kissed Valeria's cheeks as she glided gracefully across the frozen lake, her skates leaving imprints on the ice. Mallory, her friend, was her companion on this chilly afternoon. Noctis watched with interest from on top of a tree branch as the girls danced around one another. It wouldn’t be long before their cherished frozen lake would thin and eventually melt as spring was already vastly approaching.
Despite the sun shining down on them, Valeria felt a sudden shiver racing down her spine. Windhaven’s winds were always chilling and unforgiving when present. Mallory, noticing her friend's discomfort, swiftly unwound the large gray shawl from her shoulders and offered it to Valeria.
"Here, take this. It'll keep you warm," Mallory insisted, a warm and caring smile gracing her lips.
Valeria protested, not wanting to trouble her friend, but Mallory persisted. "It makes your eyes pop out even more," she chuckled, draping the shawl around her friend’s shoulder, using any excuse to keep Valeria from protesting further.
“They’ll be fine, Val.” Mallory said, sensing that there was still an unease in Valeria. She was well aware that tonight was the eve before the cruel initiation of the annual bloodrite. “They’ll be back before you know it.”
Valeria smiled at her friend, grateful for the reassurance but her smile faltered as her gaze fell upon Mallory's bare neck. Bruises littered her neck.
“Mal–” She began.
Mallory’s eyes widened in realization, suddenly feeling small under her friend's worried gaze. “It’s nothing–”
“Nothing?” Valeria replied, incredulously.
This wasn’t the first time she had witnessed bruises and injuries on her dear friend. It brought her immense sadness to see her friend suffer at the hands of her abusive father. She had offered for Mallory to stay and live at her house but every time, Mallory refused, knowing the depths her father would go to get her back.
“Shit,” Mallory let out a frustrated curse as she spared a glance to her watch. “I’m sorry, I have to go. I promised I’d be home well before sundown.”
“Do you want me to walk you?” Valeria said, concerned laced in her tone.
“No.” Mallory shook her head, a hint of worry in her brown eyes. “It’ll only make things worse.”
“I’ll see you in two days?” Valeria suggested. “I can bring the jewelry box you left at my house from my birthday then.”
“Yeah,” Mallory replied with a grateful smile. “I’ll see you in two days.”
They exchanged a hug. Valeria was unable to shake off her concern for her friend, her mind already racing with new ideas on how she could help Mallory in her situation. She was lost in thought, preoccupied with finding solutions, that she didn’t notice the discreet note Mallory slipped into the gray shawl she wore.
**
Two days later, Valeria found herself at the cherished frozen lake. The snow was melting under the sun’s warmth. She knelt down beside the lake and applied pressure to the thinning ice. A sharp cracking sound filled the air and before she could react, the ice gave way beneath her hand. She let out a startled yelp as her hand plunged into the cold embrace of the lake.
In her moment of panic, Noctis sprang into action, flying from her shoulder and desperately pecking at the back of her coat in a frantic attempt to pull her away from the cold water.
Frowning, she felt the weight of disappointment settle in her heart as she stared at the now broken patch of the once-frozen lake. The lake was not safe to skate in anymore. She cradled her trembling hand to her chest.
The minutes ticked by, and Valeria chose to wait for Mallory, contemplating how her friend would take the news about the lake.
But Mallory never came.
**
The next morning Valeria set out to find Mallory.
She was worried about her friend. The last time Mallory had failed to meet her at the lake was when she fell sick with the flu and Valeria couldn’t shake off the foreboding feeling that something might be terribly wrong, especially after seeing those bruises. It had been awhile since she last saw her friend hurt by the hands of her father and she wondered if Mallory had just gotten better hiding her injuries.
Her destination was the quaint little shop where Mallory's family worked. However, what she encountered there shattered any chance of morning calm and relief.
A wicked grin adorned a man's face. He stood behind the counter, where Mallory usually did, his eyes cruel and devoid of light. It was Mallory's father.
“Hello,” Valeria greeted warily, trying to peek out from behind his shoulders. She hoped to see the silhouette of her friend from behind the beaded curtains. Noctis did the same. “Is Mal here?”
“No,” came the curt reply.
Unease settled within Valeria as she pressed on, trying to remain polite. “Could you please let her know I came looking for her?”
“Don’t bother.” He sneered.
Valeria furrowed her brows together, causing Mallory’s father to laugh. It cut through the air, a cruel sound that sent shivers down her spine.
“Sweet ol’ Mal decided to partake in this year’s Bloodrite.”
Valeria felt her breath catch in her throat, her heart sinking like an anchor. A mixture of worry, confusion, and disbelief swirled within her. The revelation hit her like a sudden gust of icy wind, leaving her breathless and reeling.
She could feel it–the all too familiar overwhelming prickling sensation that ignited in her bones. Her powers. They surged through her, awakened by the storm of emotions raging within. The necklace adorning her neck began to shimmer, recognizing and resonating with her abilities. She contemplated finally putting her powers to use, yearning to harness them as they wished.
But the consequences of losing control in Windhaven were far too great. She had to leave. Now.
Her hands curled into fists at her sides, the silver glow barely contained within them. She turned away from Mallory’s father and ran. Noctis followed, flying over her head and managing to keep up with her despite his undersized wing. She ran and ran until the taunting echoes of Mallory’s father’s laughter faded into the distance, until she could no longer hear the cruel words that echoed in her mind.
But new words came forward, replacing Mallory's father's. They were the words Rhysand had said to her when she had asked about females participating in the bloodrite:
“It’s a cruel way for fathers to punish their daughters, an excuse to slaughter them without getting their hands dirty themselves.”
There were no words to convey the tempest of emotions that continued to rage within her. She fell to her knees, a couple of feet away from the steps to her house.
But the tears wouldn’t come.
All she felt was cold and numb, much like she had when her hand broke through the frozen lake’s surface.
**
A/N: I really liked the idea of Rhysand's mother catching on to the growing bond between Val and Az. Also, there will be more revealed about Mallory in the next imagine.

Thanks to @westernmanergy and his great post about Valentino the vigilante/urban legend, he inspired me to post this because I decided to write some snippets that I've been putting off for months.
I've been thinking about this AU in the style of Turning Red (Pixar movie) for a while now. A Puerto Rican boy who, due to a family curse, wakes up one day in the body of this ten-foot-tall moth.
And here I need your help guys, I'm a fan of staticmoth so:
where do I place Vox in all this? And I had several inspirations, student Val has a crush on? Or Hot teacher?
Consider that in this AU I want to make Valentino older than the protagonist of Turning Red so 16/18 years old.
Then I also thought what if the abilities/appearance of the Moth activates when our poor boy has impure thoughts and gets excited? What if Vox is a hunter of mythological creatures/exterminator and Velvette is his assistance? Did they go undercover in this school following reports of paranormal/demonic activity? What if Vox is also afflicted by a curse?
My favorite option is Valentino who is figuring out his sexuality and struggling with the issues of a normal teenager, meanwhile he has to take care of his little sister Verosika, while his mother is single and works two jobs to support her children.
In the midst of all this, one day he suffers a major public humiliation (I'm trying to decide what) and that night he has strange nightmares of terrifying creatures. The next morning he wakes up in the body of a ten foot tall moth and from there chaos ensues as he tries to hide and master this new ability, balance his 'normal' life, the strange instincts of the moth that make him more sensitive and receptive.
Added to all this is the arrival of a new trendy student who Val quickly befriends and the new math teacher who Valentino develops a crush on and the moth squeaks kick in when that beautiful man is around.
And what do you think? Feel free to tell me your opinions on this silly AU.
As always my native language is not English so I apologize for any mistakes
PS I want a little Verosika hugging her soft big brother💓🦋

I was wondering if you're okay writing an Angel Dust. M!Reader. More specifically Drag Queen Angel Dust. A one-shot if perfect, but you can do whatever you want. You can do this as angst or fluff, it doesn't matter! Have a great rest of your day!!
𝕭𝖆𝖉 𝕮𝖍𝖔𝖎𝖈𝖊
summary: Val convinced you to sign the deal. & Angel Dust is terrified.
warnings: swearing, angst, Valentino is his own warning, mentions of SA, alcohol & drug consumption, mentions of a breakup, mentions of abuse, brief mention of suicide, gn!reader (except for the use of the nickname "princesa" & being called "gorgeous"), arguing
a/n: i saw this ask & immediately wanted to make this into a series!
tags: (as always, just tagging a few people i think would be interested in this, please let me know if you would like to be on the taglist!) @o-kye @lil-stormcloud @zuuriell @strangleetomz @xxtalulahlovesyouxx @vibestillax @zoexia @ax-y10 @stars-around-scars-collective @blu3-lemonad3 @myheartticks @joviepog @mochamuff1n @unbeleevable @danvstheworld
"C'mon, toots, just come to my drag show! You've been cooped up in ya room all day." Angel Dust pleaded, pacing back & forth in your room.
You were a newer resident of the Hazbin Hotel, mainly staying there to be with your friend Angel Dust. Redemption, however, was just an afterthought to you. Heaven didn't seem like that much fun. You were still supportive of Charlie's dream & helped in any way you could.
"What if he's there, Angel? What if he tries to hurt me again?" you sighed, burying yourself further in your pile of blankets.
"You really think I'm gonna let that dickhead fuck with ya?" Angel Dust raised a brow. "If we see him, we'll leave. How's that sound, suga?"
After a few moments of thinking, you slowly sat up in your bed. "Fine. Only because it's your show & I want to be supportive." Angel Dust smiled wide & gave you a hug while muttering a few "thank you"s.
"Go get ready, toots. I'll see ya downstairs."
"You're completely sure he won't be here?" you asked nervously.
"Dollface, even if that dickhead was here, you're too hot for him to approach," Angel chuckled. He opened the door for the club & let you walk in first, & your senses were immediately overloaded with the sight.
Bright neon lights flashed vibrant colors to the rhythm of the music, & the air reeked of drugs, horniness, demon sweat, & booze. You could hardly see anybody no more than ten feet ahead of you due to all of the dancing sinners in your way, all of which were either bouncing around to the music or heavily making out, tongue & all, their mixed drool dripping onto their chins & sometimes the floor.
You turned around to look for Angel, but somebody looking for a good time (or just a cure for boredom) dragged him away, leaving you all alone. Not knowing what else to do, you started looking for the bar. You had to push multiple sinners on your way (which resulted in heaping amounts of "Fuck you!"s & "Go kill yourself!"s in response), & when you finally got there, the seats were sticky in a mixture of mystery substances (that you had no interest in figuring out) & the bartender looked like she was one spilled drink away from ending it all.
"What can I get for you?" her monotonous voice distracted you from the scene of the bar.
"They'll be getting your best martini, on me," a mystery voice said behind you as a hand slithered up your back & landed on your shoulder. When you turned on, you were greeted by the sight of a fashionable moth man with a cigarette in his fingers, the pink smoke wrapping around you like a fuchsia vine.
"You're gorgeous!" the moth man exclaimed. "Do you need a job? How many dicks can you suck?"
You stayed silent & raised a confused eyebrow.
"Eh, you look like you can," the moth man shrugged. "The name's Valentino, princesa. Want me to make you more money than your pretty head could ever comprehend? It'll make you & me beyond rich. Sinners eat up demons like you, believe me."
You couldn't get another word out before a contract & pen appeared out of thin air. Valentino quickly talked about where you needed to sign, but you were spaced out. Somebody wanted you to work for them? Somebody wanted you? With a giddy smile on your face at the idea, you signed your name on the contract. You had just finished signing before you were covered by a tall spider. Angel Dust.
"What are you doing, Val?" Angel Dust asked angrily.
"Angel, baby, this princesa is your friend?" Val smiled. "Relax, Angel, I'm just making sure their looks are put to good use." Val was then brought somewhere else by two female sinners who looked like they were in desperate need of sex.
Angel whipped around & gripped your shoulders. "Please tell me you didn't sign those forms, toots, please."
You smiled sheepishly. "I-I kind of wanted a job-"
"Are you fuckin' crazy?!" Angel exclaimed furiously, shaking you a little. "Are you braindead?! Why the fuck would you sign that contract?! He owns your soul now! I've told you how much I hate that bald bitch!"
"That's who you work for?" you raised a brow. "I-I'm sorry, Angel, I didn't know that was-"
"Save your apologies," Angel huffed. "We're going back to the hotel." He grabbed your arm & dragged you out of the bar.
"Hope you like being exploited."

Thank you for still acknowledging voxval since it is partial/kind of canon (theyre just not "together") even though you're radiostatic (i think). The shipping stuff has gotten intense lately (no surprise most of it is Twitter) but because people hate Val (and I get it) they erase his relationship with Vox and I think it's a total disservice to both characters... i get that we don't know much about anything really because the show is so damn short, but their fucked up relationship is fun to me and it sucks to see it erased when it's actually really there in the story 🥲
I have like all hazbin keywords muted on twitter so I have no idea what goes on there unless someone sends it directly to me. I'm a radiostatic, technically, but only in the sense where alastor never ever reciprocates under any circumstances LMAO, very common interpretation of the ship btw if you didn't know (thus the "one-sided" in my url).
but yeah I have never once seen staticmoth as even remotely being a rival to one-sided radiostatic, and anyone who does baffles me, they have always co-existed to me. I'm gonna be real, I actually do not like it when vox's relationship with val is downplayed in one-sided radiostatic fics. like I don't like it when vox is like "oh he's just my fuck buddy he means NOTHING to me compared to you alastor" like... I do think vox's relationships with both are very different in that vox is completely and utterly obsessed with alastor and is a lot more normal about valentino (lmao being normal about val isn't that crazy) (normal in comparison to his thing with alastor, it's not completely normal okay just normal in comparison, the bar is low as hell) but I don't think val is less important to vox just because vox isn't obsessed with him LMSKGFHODOF. this is in the same vain where any scenario where vox leaves the vees for alastor is SO wrong to me, like he would NOT do that.
but yeah um. points to my bio
I like staticmoth too okay, I know I don't talk about it as much but I like it too.
and listen, I do not think there's anything wrong with disliking staticmoth or feeling uncomfortable with it simply due to the fact that val is a very triggering character for a lot of people. like I totally understand it! this is why we tag appropriately so that people who don't want to see it don't have to see it.
but there is no moral high ground to be had here, liking morally bad characters doesn't mean you support their actions, and there is no moral superiority to be had over people liking a ship that is technically canon. or else you'd have to blame people for literally complying with canon.
#ask#osrs.txt#hazbin vox#hazbin hotel vox#vox#hazbin valentino#hazbin hotel valentino#valentino#I was only gonna tag vox and staticmoth at first but tagging val too just in case anyone has val filtered and doesn't want to see this#staticmoth#voxval

YOU SAID YOU WANT CAPTAIN PRICE STUFF?? welll sheeeit idk, price giving you a ‘goodbye’ before the mission the best way he knows???? 😩😩😩🥺
Oh Captain, My Captain.
captain john price x reader
synopsis: your husband gets deployed, you get some dick. it's the natural order of things.
cw: afab!reader, no pronouns + gendered language, anal, like a lot of it, married people being freak nasty as they should, cunnilingus, established relationship, fingering, my blatant disregard for spellcheck or grammar, no use of y/n ever, mdni (seriously...stop.)
an: gotta get my yayas out somehow, i can't believe i havent written about him or soap yet. quick someone bring me a soap idea too. thank u so much my angel Val, this sparked joy in me fr. also price is 40, no i dont take criticism, the cod team told me, my uncle works at nintendo.
I'm obsessed with the facial hair, unfortunately. And I just know he's loud. Like really loud. Like, no, never in public, because you're getting found out, loud.
Him saying goodbye goes much like it always does. It's customary at this point; he gets deployed, you're worried about your husband dying in some secret op in the middle of nowhere, you ask him to leave you a creampie to remember him by. As if he won't be back to fuck you into unconscious when he returns. You promise him a night of his favourites. Pussy and ass.
Between the mustache and the way that man groans into the lips of your pussy, getting eaten out by Price is literally a heavenly experience, a brush with God, feels more like a treat for you, but by god does the Captain get into it. He likes it best when you lay back, lower half hanging off the bed, with him on his knees between your thighs, your legs over his shoulders and his slicked up thumb rubbing so insistently, ardently at the furl of muscle below your cunt.
You know what, in fact, you're hard pressed to remember a time you and John fucked where his hands haven't drifted down your back to grip at your ass, pulling the cheeks apart to toy with you, dragging the roughened pads of his fingertips over where he's split your pussy open on his dick, up, over your taint before playing with your rim.
You can, however, remember the first time he'd sank the red, leaking tip of his dick into said ass. He'd been patient, kind, generous with loosening you up, continues to be so. Letting him in where he likes it best is an arduous process. That night, after a short, gruff talk about boundaries and limits, and a kiss on your wedding ring, he spent the two hours before the act, sucking at your clit with military precision, sliding his fingers in and out of your messy cunt, until you came. And then he did it again. And again. Until you were soft and pliant and fucking delirious. When the time came, it'd been pressure and pain that with time and so much effort, eventually devolved into sin soaked pleasure. His cock is thick, blunt tipped and brutal, so the Captain had to work you open in long, languid strokes, while he pawed at your midsection, keeping you in place, hands steady and sure. You're just getting used to push and pull of him thrusting into your ass when he comes, huffing and moaning into your shoulder, while he blankets your back, his facial hair tickling at your neck and shoulders. Even with his voice muffled against your skin, he's noisy, groan tapering off into a whimper and a sigh as he grinds against you, filling you in the most unfamiliar way.
I figure goodbyes with Price go a little something like that.
i write "mrs. captain john price" on my lisa frank notebook in pink gel pen. also i think his dick is like thick in a scary way, like average length maybe less, but obscenely thick. :)
support city girls, reblog what u like.

Chapter 5 : Fun Streaming Shenanigans
[World Building Chapter 2]
[𝙶𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚖 𝙲𝚒𝚝𝚢, 𝙱𝚊𝚡𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝙼𝚊𝚗𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗, 12:45 𝙿𝙼]
Tucker was setting up his streaming set-up and dash helping with the heavier sets, "What... Are they doing...?" Valerie asks as she drank her coffee beside Dante. "... Being idiots." Dante scoffs "No Dante, This is Genius! Streaming Valerie!" Danny says Excitedly because they're gonna let Danny Join the dismantling Parts. The Elders were very supportive and even gave them their own streaming Room that is their lounge. Very supportive sweet people who even gave them all Seperate rooms, except Danny and Dante who Says they wanted to stay in the same room.
"Hello Chat! Tucker Foley here and I'm finally back after a Loooong hiatus! A lot of things has happened but anyways! We have new members! Valerie." Tucker shows Valerie to the chat. "Oh come On..." Valerie says and winks at the camera. "There's Dash! He's my Brother now! Cool innit." Tucker says and Dash waves at the Camera.
"Danny and Dante as you all know from Before—" Tucker reads one of the messages. "Where's Sam...? Uhm..." They looked at each other and Valerie spoke up and walked over to the Set-up to talk to Chat. "Unfortunately Sam has passed due to... An accident. It took a long while for us to move on and Grieve and that why Tucker Here took long to post again." Valerie says as she Drank the rest of her Coffee and walked back to beside Dante.
"Yep! Thank you Valerie for Telling the viewers but yes! We're back as always! Soon I might introduce you all to our Grandparents!" Tucker says and Dash and Him continues to chat and talk to the viewers, "I missed this yk... It's been a long time since we've.. streamed stuff actually —" Danny says with a gentle gaze and Dante ruffles his hair.
"Ofcourse I Know that Danny. For now let's have fun." Dante says and also finished drinking his coffee. "Gasp! Hello First Subscriber! CoffeeAddictDrake!" Tucker waves at the Camera. "You remember our first subscriber?" Danny asks as he rolls his wheelchair over to the camera. "ofcourse! He's the one who always gave mone— 500$ WOW— GODDAMN— it's not even 5 minutes yet—" Tucker looks shock and the rest Laughing.
"It's been a while chat! It's me Danny as always, I'm kinda disabled and Gay now but that's fine. I know you guys haven't met my twin Brother Dante. Cmere Dan." Danny looked over to Dante who sighs and Went over to Danny. "Sup Chat." His voice was deeper than Danny's and he was more muscular and built unlike Danny who was more and I qoute "Twink" build.
"Oop chat's going crazy again—" Dash Blurts out as everyone was going crazy over Dan who still hand fixed his messy hair and still half naked with an unbuttoned shirt. "Damn. We went from a thousand viewers and 500 subscribers to 4k Subscribers and Riding and a few thousand Viewers because and Val and Dan. 'is he single?' Uh Yes Chat but I think Valerie wants to fuck him—" Danny blurts out and Dante just stunned.
"If you gave me the opportunity I would." Valerie states and Chat went even crazier. "Damn. This went from Oh Welcome Back introduction to Oh my God people are Simping over you, your brother and Valerie. And Dash is also simping on you so that's something els— oh damn—" chat going crazier.
"Anyways— Let's all calm down- alright??" Tucker says and Valerie chuckled and walked out, Dante just sighs and sat beside Danny's Wheelchair as Dash, Danny and Tucker Went on about Technology and how they're in Gotham for an Hour or 2. Dante slept in his seat as they did so. "And that's all for today! Thank you for watching!" Tucker says "we'll see you again soon." Danny bows his head and smiles. "make Em go Viral if Possible since they're such Fanatics of Wayne Enterprises Technology and Tucker to Tim Drake." Dante laughed.
"If I got the opportunity to Date Tim Drake I'd take it and become a househusband." Tucker says with pure determination, "Then you'd be my brother In Law—" Danny blurts out which chat tries to question but Dante distracted them with unbuttoning his shirt more. It was effective.
"I'm not even surprised.." Dash mutters and waved good bye to the camera and they turned off the stream. They soon heard Dash's Grandma calling for them downstairs as Lunch was Ready. "Just in time! YAY! FOOD!" Tucker stood up excitedly and ran out the door. Dante let Dash push the wheelchair for now as he fixed his shirt and ties his hair back up. Dash was pleased as Danny kept chattering about more stuff in Technology and Dash listening to everything. "Smitten son of a—" Dante glared at Dash who was looking at Danny with "Those Eyes" that clockwork also used to look at Vlad. Dante shuddered slightly and scoffed.
[𝙽𝚎𝚡𝚝 𝙳𝚊𝚢]
"Good Morning Chat! It's a new Day! It's a new discovery— Tim Drake's official account subscribed to me and I couldn't be more happier." Tucker says as he leans on his Chair, "Good morning Chat." Dante says whilst Hair wet and Shirtless, "Damn those abs." Valerie blurts out. "Please stop simping for my brother Infront of me— anyways Morning Chat! Today we will talk about more nerd stuff! Specifically Aerospace Engineering because why not we're nerds, and there's two non nerds behind us—" SLAP. "VALERIE— DO NOT SLAP MY ASS—" Dante yells and Valerie laughing. "That's normal, I'm not even gonna Bother—" Dash falls asleep again resting his head On Danny's Shoulder. "that's not normal but I'm not gonna move nontheless" Danny smiles.
"Uhm chat says uhh...Check... Tiktok? Alright—" Tucker opens TikTok and let's it stream. "ARE THOSE THIRST TRAPS OF DANTE—" Tucker yelled in shock. "WHAT THE— WDYM??" Dante looked over at the screen and in total shock. "Goodness of the Ancients.." Dante mutters slowly falling back down to his seat and Danny laughing his ass off until he sees a Thirst Trap of himself in a "Before and After" Edit. "Pardon Me for Laughing—" Danny mutters regretfully. Tucker was stuttering and questioning chat on how they even made these within a day.
"This is so fun." Danny laughs at Tucker who was mentally overloading.
This was so fun.. Danny smiles softly.
[𝙻𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙰𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚘𝚗]
Danny and Dante were with Valerie touring around the City Malls whilst Dash and Tucker was left to the Manor Streaming and Letting Grandma and Grandpa Join the streams. They hinted that the Three icons were out for the day Around Gotham. "This city is both amazing, terrifying and Largely fucked—" Valerie says as she's looking around. "Oh right? When are you guys gonna look for your Biological Family?" Valerie looks at them. "Probably never— I mean... He already has a lot of children—" Danny mutters, "And I heard the youngest is a bit Feral so I'd rather not deal with another Ellie." Dante scoffs as he picked out a book from the shelf in the Store. "Fair reasons but he has to atleast know you guys exist." Valerie tries to reason but Danny shook his head.
"I'd rather not have it like that... I want to stay in low profile and a normal life for longer, I prefer the silent warmth of the mansion." Danny says with a soft gaze and Dante nodding in agreement. "Vlad is still getting my Bike transfered here because it's my favorite and first Bike. Hopefully it doesn't come back Damaged." Dante sighs and drinks from Valerie's Straw. "Uhm that's stealing." Valerie complains as he practically is drinking from her cup. "Doesn't matter. Don't care." Dante chuckles. "Please stop flirting behind me for Ancient's Sake.." Danny groans sarcastically as he rolled his eyes and raised his legs to cross them to add more sass.
"Tucker says he'll vlog tommorow around Gotham, you wanna join?" Valerie asks Danny as she ruffled his hair, "Ofcourse I do! It's fun." Danny smiles and giggled. "You sweet summer child." Valerie kept ruffling his hair. "Jesus Christ, Ancient's Mercy, I am not a sweet summer Child—" Danny says annoyed and embarrassed. "Uh-huh. Right..." Dante says Sarcastically. "Ugh.." Danny groans and Gave up as Valerie kept Fondling and ruffling his poor hair.
Danny was thinking about what he said yesterday. Hopefully someone doesn't take it seriously... I mean Only Tim Drake-Wayne is subscribed to them yeah— hopefully he didn't notice that thing he did. Confessing indirectly was such a stupid move, he feels like an idiot for doing that as that could risk his wish for a normal unbothered life away from the public. Please don't let them find out. Please please please. Ancients have Mercy don't let the Phantom Luck Hit Now and Make the world find out He and Dante are Wayne's Biological sons. That'll be the worst.
Dante gave Danny a cup of Milk tea he just bought. "Ease Up Danny." Dante reassures Danny as he drinks the boba tea happily, The three just tours around the Mall with Danny still on the wheelchair but it's fine, atleast he can still float, not walk anymore though that's still upsetting him but it's fine, hell get used to it as he always does.
[𝚆𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚃𝚞𝚌𝚔𝚎𝚛 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙳𝚊𝚜𝚑]
"Why did Danny call my brother in-law when I talked about the marrying Tim Drake Wayne? Uhh... Out of Wedlock Child." Tucker mutters, "Danny sometimes looks like a victorian child in the edge of Deaths Blade." Dash speaks up to try and distract chat. "That's true! Yeah he does! It's normal tho! He's just really pale and ever since the accident with the electricity as you all know we've talked about it cuz that's how he got his Lichtenberg scar, his Heart is barely detectable by the Heart Monitors! Now he's even more slightly sickly more than before ever since an accident." Tucker says
"Yeah! And it left him unable to walk but we're here to help him at his needs ofcourse." Dash finger guns the camera as he spun his chair. "Oh Cujo— OH MY GOD— TUCKER—" Dash yells as he looks at the door. "OH FU— WAIT CHAT—" Tucker turns off the Camera. "CUJO! PUT THAT STICK DOWN! IT LITERALLY HAS FIRE ANTS! PUT IT BACK outside OR DANNY AND VAL WILL GET REALLY UPSET." tucker yells and Cujo whimpers and whined in compliance as he... Threw back the tree log outside again.
Tucker turned on the camera again and looks stressed. "Anyways Chat. Meet our Dog Cujo." Dash raises cujo to the camera and made his paw wave at the Camera. "he's kind of a demon spawn...." Tucker whispers to the Camera. "Aw come on! Look at his cute face! He's so cute..." Dash says as he made Cujo that's in large Pitbull Dog Form wave at the camera, Cujo licking Dash's Face, "you're such a cutie pie! Yes you are, you're such a good boy, who's a good boy? You are! You are" dash coos and Tucker sighed.
"Don't mind him chat he loves the dog as much as he loves Danny." Tucker says Loudly which Made Dash flush red, "TUCKER!! You don't JUST SAY THAT!!" Dash yells his face tomato red as Cujo kept licking his face and Tucker laughing at him as he buried his face on Cujo's chest Fur in Embarrasament. "WHAT IF DANNY SEES THIS!! An angsty Bereznik-timeline-Jeff story snuck up on me. I got to write it out in the campus bomb shelter, awaiting the strike of Dagger-class missiles. But in the end, a glimmer of hope won over. As always, many thanks go to @janetm74 for incessant support.
MESSAGE
Colonel Tracy walked up to the GDF Headquarters. It was the military training, a familiar grid to fall back on, that got him there. Not through it. Nothing could get him through it. But he kept his back ramrod straight, looked ahead with glassy eyes, put one foot in front of the other and got there. Jeff Tracy was summoned to collect Captain Tracy's, status updated to KIA, personal effects, sent from the Airbase, so Colonel Tracy reported on time, as told. Because Jeff Tracy, the father, wasn't available. Captain Tracy's father, previously Scott Tracy's, Scooter's, and Scotty's father, was prostrate, still and numb, all out of voice or tears, or wits, or strength, or a will to go on, over the charred remains of an F-18 fighter jet, somewhere on the outskirts of a thick Moravian forest. Indefinitely.
They could have just mailed Scott's things home to Kansas, but for some reason his old combat friends Lord Hugh and Major* Casey were adamant he came in person. Not that there could be much classified about well-worn Yale t-shirts, a dress uniform and spare fatigues, faded jeans, Scott's favorite running shoes and, it could be presumed, a copious number of snapshots of little brothers over the years Captain Tracy kept in his locker and in every available pocket at all times. But his friends (and the boy's superiors) insisted, so he showed up. The empty hull of him, at least. It became apparent why when Lord Hugh offered him a seat and entered a personal passcode into a secure comm unit. Val Casey's face was stricken with anguish. Through the cotton cloud of numbness Jeff could distantly register his heart constrict - he could hardly process any more agony those days. Already hit and anticipating a takeover, Scott managed to send out the last message. Jeff knew the drill since the last war: the pilot would access a unique classified frequency they were to use only once - when chances of survival were zero to none. The message was to contain whatever usable intel the pilot could offer on the ground behind enemy lines. It would be recorded into a cloud, scrambled and bounced off different servers so as to not give away the pilot's or the jet location. Jeff was summoned to be played the "unclassified" portion of Scott's last ever holocall. He took Hugh up on his offer of the seat as his knees buckled.
Dark curls were plastered to the boy's forhead, drenched in sweat. Or maybe blood. Scott's face was covered in soot and there was a gush over his brow, but even that combined with the bluish tint of the holo couldn't hide the pallor.
"Hi, guys!"
The ready smile, ever there when Scott was talking or thinking of his brothers, faltered. Haunted eyes squeezed shut briefly against a painful grimace and reappeared, brimming with moisture.
"God! I love you all so much I wish I could just message my heart to you! Allie..."
His son's face mellowed at the mention of the baby brother and in an instant it was Lucy's hologram in a torn and blooded flightsuit, shivering from strain and emotion. And onsetting shock. Val Casey by his side was crying openly.
"Allie! You be good for me, alright?! Listen to Dad and Grandma! Know that I'll always be there for you! ALWAYS! Gordie, you go on training! I'm so proud of you! Go get 'em, Squiddo! Johnny... I know, I know... but hey! I get big brother perks! You're so smart, kid, you can do anything! I'll see you in the stars, I KNOW you'll make astronaut! Virg... Virgie, you listen to me - don't let ANYONE doubt you! Least of all yourself! You do what your heart feels right, ok? I believe in you, brother! Gosh, I could just hug you lot and never let go!"
Jeff's knuckles were white, his grip on the edge of the conference table so tight he could snap a slab off. The expression on the holo-tinged face shifted to something hesitant and so, so impossibly young.
"Dad! I'm so sorry! I let you down... I know you needed me for the Project. It's gonna be AWESOME! Dad... I'm scared... I love you!"
An explosion off screen distorted the signal and the feed was cut off. Jeff was on his feet by then, a flimsy office chair kicked to the side. That didn't last long, though, as he reached both hands to the empty space where a gossamer image of his son just revealed feeling guilty and afraid, all alone, seconds before dying. In a place he ended up only following in his father's footsteps. Jeff's battle with consciousness and gravity was lost before it even started and the hardwood floor rushed close in a flash.
***
[He was in the hallway of their Kansas farmhouse when a flash of auburn practically collided with his chest. Lucy was winded, eyes wild, hands twisting his shirt in a frantic grip.
"Have you found him?! I just checked the treehouse - he's not there! Jeff, we need to find him before dark! It will be too late!!"
He grasped his wife's shoulders instinctively to calm her, but Lucy was adamant, stepping out of his embrace.
"New plan! I'll take the basement - you go on and check the barn! We need to find Scotty!"
With that she was gone, feet pounding down the stairs. He took his cue and went out to the old barn. It was empty. Dark was gathering in the corners, making the bits and pieces of equipment look distorted, grotesque. Menacing. He knew better than just to call the boy's name. Overwhelmed or upset, or tired - little Scooter could hide with the best of them. He searched the nooks and crannies, checked beneath the crates, then made his way to the back wall. It was then that he heard the scream. His son's voice, calling for him. Pleading for Dad's help from beyond the wall. Old wood turned to dark filthy bricks beneath his fists as he tried to let the boy know Dad was there. No matter how hard he flung himself against the wall - it didn't budge as the voice calling to Dad got fainter.]
***
He came to Lord Hugh and Casey propping him from both sides, helping to sit up. Val's gaze was full of worry and reprimand.
"Hey, Jeff! Easy! When was the last time you ate anything? Slept?"
He didn't have time for any such nonsense! Sleep or sustenance stopped being remotely meaningful concepts since they told him his son was dead. But now? He needed to be in a hurry! The vice grip on his friend's hand made the usually cast iron Lord wince. Jeff needed to get up and rush. He needed to go find his son! Before it was too late!

The Nightmare Come True - Part 3
TW: POW, Torture Scott's POV 1 | Part 1 | Scott's POV 2 | Part 2 | Scott's POV 3 Thanks @loopstagirl for the support and inspiration!
Scott had thanked him.
Scott had thanked him and it had made the Dog Tags in Jeff’s pocket feel all the heavier.
“You found me.”
It had sounded like the kid had never doubted him, and Jeff’s gut had started to refute the statement before he had consciously thought about it.
Scott, I …
Wouldn’t have stopped until I did.
I’m sorry it wasn’t sooner.
Or, perhaps the most truthful of all,
I didn’t.
Because Colonel Jeff Tracy had not found Captain Scott Tracy. Instead, his son had been presented to him as a pawn in the game between one country and the rest of the world. It had been Hugh and Kyrano that had worked their magic and found exactly where Scott had been held.
Hell, it had even been Kyrano that had found him in the cells when Jeff hadn’t heard his own son’s cries for help.
The nightmare that had woken Scott in a panic and sent all manner of alarms blaring, were proof most of all.
Jeff hadn’t saved his son.
He had spent six months trying, and failing, to find him. He had stood by as others had taken action and done all the heavy lifting for him. He had done nothing whilst all that time Scott had been fighting.
“What’s that look for?”
Jeff looked up from where he had perched on the arm of the chair Scott had fallen asleep in, Val’s whisper breaking into his thoughts.
“He thinks I saved him, Val.” He murmured back, his hand absently brushing over Scott’s still too short hair, “He thanked me.”
Val eyed him for a long moment before hopping up onto the empty bed, her eyes assessing both he and Scott in a way Jeff had long since come used to. She’d speak when she’d decided what needed to be said, once she’d gotten a full picture of what was happening and the mindset of those involved. It was a skill she used to her full advantage and had seen her rise through the ranks of the Air Force right on Jeff’s tail.
“The nurses won’t be impressed when they find him out of bed.” She watched him, leaning forward like it was a secret Jeff hadn’t already known the moment Scott had forced himself upright.
“He needed to move,” He fired back, ready to defend as he had done when the same nurses had tried to force an oxygen mask over Scott’s face, “to not feel trapped.”
He’d known even before he had asked that he wouldn’t have stopped Scott, even if he had wanted to. His son had always wanted to move, had hated confinement of any sort even when he had been tiny. Lucy had always laughed, insisted that he had gotten it from Jeff himself, and had known that he would inevitably follow his father to the sky where the only limit was the horizon.
Being bound to a bed, barely able to stay awake, had always felt like …
“You helped him?” Val asked, raising an eyebrow that held no real heat.
Jeff straightened, prickling at the insinuation he couldn’t quite see, “I was hardly gonna leave him to struggle on his own.”
Because he had done that once, and even to that day he was seeing the reminders of that very mistake.
Scott hadn’t wanted help, had been determined to push through and manage on his own even when he was exhausted and hurting. Jeff had partly fallen back on his Colonel Voice to get the Captain to listen, and it had twisted something deep in his gut that it had come to that.
He knew the way Scott had leaned into him after he had thrown up had been subconscious, and definitely something he wouldn’t have done had he been more awake. It was for the same reason that Scott hadn’t actively called out for Jeff, except for in his nightmares.
A much younger Scott had needed his father, and he hadn’t been there, so at some point the kid had stopped asking for him.
Jeff had come back to his son’s though, and had sworn every day that he would be there for them. He would pick them up when they fell, guide them when they were lost, hold them together when they fell apart.
Alan had just been young enough to still ask for him.
Gordon had his moments, but had followed an example set by his older brothers.
Virgil had always been his mother’s son, and whilst he would ask for Jeff, he knew his mother had always been the parent he had called for first.
John wasn’t like the others, had always needed someone to see when he needed help rather than simply ask for it.
Scott had once been like Virgil, except the oldest had been his father’s son where Virgil had been his mother’s. When Jeff had fallen into his grief, Scott had fallen to not wanting to ask for help. Ever since had had come to his senses, Jeff had been watching and doing his best to give his son what he needed.
“You’re protecting him.” Val stated softly, the smallest of smiles playing on her lips.
Jeff looked down again, Scott’s face slack in dreamless sleep, peaceful.
He’d do anything to keep his son feeling that at peace, but he knew he couldn’t stop the nightmares that would come eventually.
“I didn’t protect him from them, nobody protected him.” He whispered, “He saved his crew, and he saved himself, I just turned up to pull him outta there.”
“Maybe.” Val nodded slowly, “or maybe you turned up right when he needed you to.”
Jeff frowned across to her, “What do you mean?”
Her look was soft as she sighed, “They train us hard for what happens in prison, tell us what to do, what to say. There’s no training for this though, is there? For what comes after.”
He knew she was right, there was no guidebook or protocol for what Scott was going through. There was no command that his son could follow to make it better.
Unless…
He felt sick at the thought, not confident that Scott was really ready for it.
Command was something he could do though, something Jeff had seen him demonstrate a handful of times since he had woken up. He had found his voice again, rooted deep and found the stubbornness that ran strong in his genes to get himself from the bed to the chair. There was still something more needed though, something to get him to see exactly how strong he had been through everything.
“Tomorrow,” He swallowed, “I’ll talk to him about a debrief.”
If Val was surprised by his statement, she hid it well.
“I can’t get you in on it.” She stated with a heavy sigh, “But if he agrees, I’ll find a way for you to listen in.”
Jeff wasn’t sure he was ready for that, to hear exactly what Scott had gone through without being at his side to support him through the memories. He trusted Val though, knew she had stood up for the rest of the squadron, and knew that she would do the same if not more for the man sleeping at Jeff’s side.
Slipping off the bed, she crossed the room to squeeze his shoulder with a silent nod before leaving them as quietly as she had come.
***
The nurses hadn’t passed comment when they had come to check on Scott, and Jeff said nothing in return as he scratched gently at his son’s scalp and thought about how stiff he would be when he did eventually wake. He deserved peace, the chance to rest undisturbed for as long as his mind would allow him.
Jeff’s phone buzzing in his pocket startled him as he hurried to answer it before it woke Scott.
“Virgil.” He hissed, glancing down to Scott, grateful to see him undisturbed despite the blue-tinged hologram lighting up the room.
His middle son looked firstly shocked and then guilty across the miles, “Sorry Dad, I just-- is that… Scott?”
Jeff realized too late that Scott would have been in the frame and immediately shifted the field to hide the eldest away from his younger brother’s eyes.
“He’s sleeping.” He murmured, “He’s still recovering.”
Virgil nodded quickly, eyes still clearly shocked at whatever he had picked up on of his eldest brother’s state.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have-- I just--”
Jeff straightened, already heightened senses picking up on the tone and immediately knowing the root of why his son had called. He glanced to the clock on the wall, a digital thing that showed the date in big bold numbers beneath the time. A quick mental calculation reminded him that Virgil had a recital that day, a solo he had been practicing since before Scott had been gone.
They had both voiced hope that he would be home to see it.
“What is it, son?” He asked softly, “Can your Grandmother still make it today?”
Virgil nodded quickly, glancing away from the phone before looking back again, “Yeah, Grandma’s still coming.”
His voice didn’t hold its usual enthusiasm in anticipation of playing for his family.
“I know you hoped he’d be home for this.” Jeff murmured, his free hand scratching over Scott’s scalp again, “We all did.”
Virgil looked away again, someone out of field calling him, “I… it’s my turn for final rehearsal.”
Jeff smiled softly, understanding without the words needing to be asked, “I’m sure we could stay on the line whilst you play.”
Virgil’s face lit up, his eyes losing most of the worry that had settled there at the sight of his big brother, “You can? Ms Graham said it was fine but Grandma sid the doctors might--”
Jeff waved him off, quickly assuring him that the doctors could say all they wished. Scott had always encouraged Virgil to play, he was certain to appreciate the soft melodies even in his sleep.
Or not, if the hand that reached to Jeff’s leg was of any indication.
He glanced down as Virgil placed the phone on the corner of the piano, noting how Scott’s eyes were still rested closed even as he yawned. Reaching down, he rested his free hand over his son’s, unsurprised when Scott moved his hand to grip the best he could in response.
Awake, listening, but not ready to face his brother was the summary Jeff came to as Virgil began to play.
He wasn’t sure when Scott’s body had tensed against him, but as the music floated through the speaker of his phone, Jeff noticed as slowly each part of Scott fully relaxed. Muscles that he was certain must have been tense for months, softened and lengthened as the melody flowed over them. The splinted fingers that had tried to curl around Jeff’s hand loosened until they were no longer holding on but resting lightly against Jeff’s palm. His eyes were open but distant, focussed somewhere in the middle of the floor but not really seeing the room they were in as the notes wrapped them in something soothing and calm.
They perhaps could have sat like that forever, at peace with the music that had once been Lucy’s. Every song had it’s end though, and all too soon Virgil was looking back to the hologram with a smile much softer than the one he had given earlier.
“Night Scott, night Dad.” He murmured softly before hanging up without another word.
Jeff smiled to himself as he repocketed his phone, glancing down to Scott with a raised eyebrow, “How about we get you into bed? You’ll feel it tomorrow if you sleep here all night.”
Scott grunted as he shifted upright, clearly already feeling it after the few hours he had been sat in the chair. His eyes darted across the room to the bed, his jaw tensing as he gauged the distance he had to move.
For a brief moment, Jeff thought he would need to convince his son to accept help once more, but right as he was about to step in front of him, Scott turned and held out his arms.
“Easy does it, right?” Jeff had asked through his surprise, stepping up and supporting Scott’s weight just as he had done so earlier.
Together they had shuffled back to the bed, Scott’s weight shifting more and more on to Jeff the further they got. Not that he minded, hell, Jeff would carry his son across that room a thousand times if it made things better.
“Dad?” Scott slurred as he sunk back into the pillows.
“Yes, kiddo?”
“Tell Aunt Val you can lis’en.”
By the time Jeff had interpreted just what Scott meant, the kid was asleep.
***
Val had brought the Generals with her the next afternoon after a more lucid Scott had agreed to the debrief. She had stood at the door as the pair had introduced themselves and then asked Jeff to leave the room.
He would never forgive the United States Air Force for what had followed when Scott had gripped onto his sleeve and stated in no uncertain terms that he wished for his father to stay. For a brief moment, Jeff had been assured that Scott would be fine as a flicker of the self-confident son shone through in the face of his superiors.
Those superiors had instantly extinguished the flame.
There had been no gentle reminders, or soft explanations, no understanding or care for what the airman in the bed had been through whilst they had sat in their ivory towers. Without hesitation, one had barked a sharp reminder across the room,
“You’ll do well to remember who’s in charge here, Captain.”
Scott had instantly cowered, turning away from the authority figures and looking to Jeff with the same fear that he had found him with back in the cells. The hand that Jeff had taken in his own had been clammy and had shook as he held on to it tight.
“Son, you listen to me,” He had told him, ignoring the pair at his back, “I’ll be right down the hall. You tell them everything that happened, and as soon as you’re done I’ll be right back here.”
It had taken a long moment before Scott had nodded and released Jeff’s arm enough for him to leave.
As soon as he was out the door, he had shoved in the earbud Val had slipped to him and hurried to the office down the hall she had cleared for him.
There he had listened, barely breathing, as Scott had recounted every detail of the six months he had been gone.
From departing for the mission, to being shot down.
From being helped by the villagers they were meant to be saving, to being captured.
From being thrown in a cell with the rest of his squad, to fighting to protect them when their captors had come to interrogate them.
It had all been almost robotic, Jeff could tell his son had slipped and fallen back to the Air Man he had been six months ago. There was no emotion there, the Generals didn’t have an interest in how their people felt, just one simple fact after another.
“Your squadron told us--”
“You debriefed my people without me?” Scott cut in, “Sir, protocol dictates that any debrief should be--”
“You were unavailable, Captain.” Val told him gently, “Protocol was followed given the circumstance.”
“Your squadron described to us how you protected them.” One General continued, as if there hadn’t been an interruption, “Did you not trust them, Captain?”
Scott’s voice held the same flicker it had earlier as he responded, “I trust them all with my life, Sir.”
“So why take the beatings in their place?”
Anger curdled in Jeff’s own stomach, it had not been as simple as beatings, even he knew that much. The animals had tortured Scott and his squad, first for information and then, he imagined, just because they could.
“It was torture, Sir.” Scott’s voice held an edge to it, sharp and dangerous, “I wasn’t going to let my people suffer more than they needed to, not if I could help it.”
“Your squad say you bartered with your captors, is that correct?”
“I bartered to protect them.”
“Yet it wasn’t enough, was it, Captain? You still lost half your team.”
There was a long pause, a quiet shuffling and a soft murmur of assurance from Val before Scott responded.
“I failed my people, Sir.”
Jeff bowed his head, screwing his eyes shut to force his own tears away. Scott had failed nobody, he had done his best to protect his people in any way he had been able. He had stayed strong and fought, Jeff had seen how fiercely Scott protected his own, had been called to the principal's office over fights caused by bullies too many times to count.
“Why did they separate you?”
“Sir?”
“Your squad told us that just before their rescue, your captors split you from a group cell to individual cells. Why was this?”
“I don’t know, Sir.”
“So, in all your bartering, they never gave you anything?”
“They stayed away from my people.” Scott answered, his voice wavering, “They hurt me instead of them.”
“But they didn’t, did they Captain? They still hurt your comrades, didn’t they?”
Jeff felt his heart drop, the insinuation hitting him square in the chest.
“Not as badly as they could have, Sir.”
“What are you insinuating, General?” Val’s voice held as much ire as Jeff felt.
“We find it awfully convenient that the Captain is reported to have bartered with the guards and was then hidden away when the extraction team arrived.”
Jeff slammed his fist on the desk, sending pens scattering across the floor as he half stood from the seat he had taken. How dare they imply that Scott had betrayed his country! They hadn’t been there, hadn’t seen the scars or the nightmares, hadn’t heard their son scream their name like they couldn’t hear him.
“You want to know where I was when they came?”
Scott’s anger had always burned hot and fast, explosive against anyone that stood against him. It was something he had gotten from Jeff himself, a trait he had tried and failed to move him away from.
Up the hallway, in a hospital bed, unable to stand for himself, Scott’s anger burned equally as hot but in a far more dangerous way. There hadn’t been any quiver in his question, each word had come as clear as the one before, his tone low and blunt. Anyone that had known the boy’s mother would have heard her as Jeff did in that question, and they would have known that whatever came next was far more dangerous than an explosion.
“Please, enlighten us, Captain.”
Scott’s breaths turned ragged for a moment, anger and panic mixing briefly before a long breath was drawn in.
“They put me in Solitary. To the right of the room where I was found, there was a concealed entrance, a room five by five.”
Jeff felt sick as he remembered the screams for help he had heard over the phone, and he knew.
“They took me there three times, General, and they left me there for weeks. Did my team tell you that? Did they tell you how they all thought I was dead the first time because I was gone for so long? Did they tell you how I couldn’t stand for a fortnight after they let me out? Did they tell you how I came back covered in my own filth because the guards thought it would remind me what sort of pig I was?”
Jeff was torn between pride and anger, between needing to listen and needing to stop. He’d had ideas, had made assumptions about everything his son must have been through, but he wasn’t sure any of them had quite matched the reality he was hearing as Scott ranted.
“I was in there when they were saved! And I came out thinking they were dead and that I’d failed them all. That was when I gave up. That was when they could have killed me and I wouldn’t have cared.”
Jeff found himself gripping the desk to keep himself seated, his stomach churning enough that he thought about reaching for the waste bin. Scott had given up, had been ready to let them win. If Kyrano hadn’t have found him when he did…
“I think your people should be checking for that hidden room, General.” Val’s voice was the cool balm Jeff needed to hear, “That and the Squadron’s statements should be confirmation enough of Captain Tracy’s loyalty to the Force.”
Jeff didn’t wait for her text to confirm it was clear for him to return. He didn’t acknowledge the Generals as he passed them in the hallway. He didn’t stop for anything or anyone until his arms were wrapped around his son.
Scott clung to him in return, a raw sob breaking free the moment that Val left them alone.
“I’ve got you kiddo.” He murmured into his hair, “You’ve been so strong, I’m so proud. You didn’t fail, you saved Jen and Gary and Sienna, you did good Scott. You’re so brave.”
His son’s tears weren’t like the ones that came before, they lacked the shaking grip that had come with fear and memories of terror that had been haunting him since he had woken up.
His sobs were raw, his grip solid and sure against Jeff’s back, like he had finally realized that his father wasn’t going anywhere without him. He wasn’t sure if it was relief, anger, or something else that fueled them, but it was something.
He held on and kept repeating the soothing mantra until the sobs subsided into long aching breaths and Scott pulled back, clearly spent.
“Dad?” He murmured, eyes drifting as Jeff repositioned himself to take hold of his hand.
“Yeah, kiddo?”
HIs eyes flickered to him, brow furrowing as he spoke, “I lied to them.”
Jeff leant closer, holding on to Scott’s hand with both of his, “To who?”
“The Generals. Told ‘em I didn’t care. I did though, I wanted to come home, wanted to see the boys, and wanted to see you. Then you found me.”
He pulled Scott back to his chest, hugging him tightly as his own tears broke free and ran down into his son’s hair.
